Podiatry (or chiropody) is the diagnosis and treatment  of diseases and other disorders of the feet. The task of the podiatrist is to prevent, diagnose, treat and rehabilitate abnormal conditions of the feet and lower limbs. A Podiatrist/Chiropodist can also advise how to prevent and correct deformity, keep people mobile and active, relieve pain and treat infections.

Podiatrists have in the past years State registered, currently HPC registered, which is the only qualification recognised for employment in the NHS. They are trained in all aspects of care for the feet and lower limbs, including the most common foot problems.
